Top Tips For Prolonging Your Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash extensions are the secret of thick and fluttery lashes that make your eyes the focal point of your face. Adhesive is used to glue individual lashes to each individual natural lash. The look can be tailored to your unique style, by choosing the length, thickness and colour of the lash.

Every 8 weeks your natural lashes will drop out as a natural cycle of growth and more will grow in their place. Eyelash extensions fall out with your shedding natural lashes during this cycle and can be more noticeable as they are longer and easier to spot.

The aftercare for eyelash extensions can be confusing, so follow our quick and easy tips to keep your eyelashes in pristine condition for as long as possible…

Consider your choice of eye make-up

We recommend that you only use water-based, non waterproof mascara. Avoid oil-based eye makeup remover for the duration you have eyelash extensions, so you don’t weaken the bonds to your natural lashes. Using makeup tools such as eyelash curlers may also dislodge lashes and are not recommended.

Steer clear of water

Avoid water for 2 hours after getting your lashes applied. Then try to steer clear of getting your lashes wet for the first 24 hours following the eyelash extension application. Wherever possible avoid immersing your lashes in water for prolonged periods of time.

Dry your face gently

When you have washed your face, make sure you don’t forget to dry it gently. Use a towel and dab delicately around your face, making sure not to rub over the eye area.

Ask your therapist for infills

A month or so after you have your lashes applied you can get infill lashes to prolong your extensions. Some lashes may be starting to fall out at this point. This is cheaper than reapplying a full set and means your lash line looks fuller for longer.

Keep your hands away from your face

The oils on your fingers can weaken the glue to your natural lashes, so avoid touching your eyes wherever possible.

Sleep on your back

Pressing your face and eyes into your pillowcase can loosen your lashes, causing them to fall out quicker. Try to sleep on your back to avoid disturbing them in your sleep.
