Autumn’s Best Kept Secrets
It’s nearly November already and time seems to be flying scarily quick. However, we secretly can’t wait as our Secret Spa team has picked our favourite November pastimes and we are excited to experience them all this year!
Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival has become one of the top places to go for your fireworks fix… combining both a German beer festival and a colourful display, you can’t go wrong. Perfect for attending with friends and family and getting a little bit boozy at the same time. Another essential spot is Battersea Park. With their fireworks, located on the banks of the river Thames, they have an amazing display, as well as their well known giant bonfire. All of which is accompanied with plenty of food and drink stalls. Can’t decide which one to pay a visit to, then why not go to both!?

Spring at Somerset House brings warmth and elegance within a beautiful dining space. We love their pre-theatre set dinner where their dishes are created using ‘waste’ produce. 40 percent of all fruit and vegetables grown in this country are discarded before ever reaching a shop shelf. This is because they are considered ugly, misshapen, too big or too small. By keeping it less fancy, using all the wonky (but still great quality) produce, Spring is able to offer a really reasonably priced set menu. Win-win for everyone!

Looking for something a bit different to spice things up? Well, we have the perfect hotspot in Soho – Kricket. It was first founded in a tiny 20-seat shipping container in Brixton. The restaurant is a modern memoir of time the owners spent living and working in Mumbai. Combining British ingredients with the authentic flavours, aromas, and spices of India. They even do amazing cocktails!

With Christmas around the corner, it’s time to get your coats on (or should we say skates) and head to Somerset House ice rink. Not only will this get you right into the festive spirit, Fortnum and Mason will also be having their ‘Fortnum Lodge’ there this year. They will be offering champagne, mulled wine and winter classics including cheese fondue and mince pies. For those who can’t skate, there’s no need to worry, as you can prop yourself up at the bar and enjoy the festive treats.

It’s getting colder outside and what better way to warm up than to visit The Queen Elizabeth Roof Gardens – Finnish Sauna. This is the perfect activity if you are in need of some relaxation, whilst getting beautiful views of London’s skyline at the same time. Saunas are one of the best forms of detoxification, helping to flush any toxins out of the body, whilst improving circulation and cleansing the skin. With winter on the horizon, it’s important to give your skin some extra love and prevent it from dehydrating and losing its radiance. Exfoliating and moisturising regularly will help keep it smooth and bright and for an added extra glow, visit a sauna!

Don’t forget to treat yourself and give yourself some much-needed attention. November can be that time of year where you start to miss the summer sun, your tan is fading and you some TLC. Why not book in one of our beauty professionals to come to you and give you a spray tan? It’s the perfect treat to get your glow back. We also find that preparing for Christmas can be super busy and take its toll. It’s important to take time out and unwind. At Secret Spa, we find that massage is a great way to relax and reduce any tension you’re carrying. It even helps with circulation and will help lift your mood.
